Pauline Calvert

President: Pauline Calvert

Pauline has a strong interest in agriculture and the ever-changing political environment that impacts the crop protection and animal health industries.

In addition to being the New Zealand Livestock Business Unit Lead for MSD Animal Health, Pauline is an active member of the Pharmacology Chapter of the Australian New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, and is an examiner for the Chapter.

Prior to joining MSD Animal Health in 2014, Pauline spent nearly two decades as a field veterinarian in mixed animal practice, before venturing into the regulatory environment – joining the Ministry for Primary Industries as veterinary adviser within the ACVM group.

Pauline has a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Massey University.

Gavin manages the Nufarm New Zealand business and liaises with staff, customers, suppliers, end-users and other stakeholders. He enjoys establishing positive relationships through tackling challenges and making the most out of opportunities.

In recent years, his management positions in supply, manufacture and distribution saw him develop a strong skillset in change management and strategic planning.

Derek Bartlett

Derek Bartlett

Derek joined Bayer in South Africa over 30 years ago - directly after obtaining a BSc Honours degree in parasitology. His first job was as a research officer at the company's animal health research farm. From there he quickly moved into marketing and, in the early 90’s, spent three years at the head office in Germany.

After returning to South Africa, he managed a variety of functions for Bayer in sub-Saharan Africa - including responsibilities for livestock, companion animal and environmental science marketing and sales.

In 2005 he moved to Vietnam as Country Head for Animal Health and then led Bayer’s animal health business in South Asia. In 2010, Derek moved to Belgium to take up the role of Country Head for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Finally, Derek moved to New Zealand in 2013 and is now the Managing Director for Bayer Animal Health NZ.

Daile Holz

Daile Holz

Daile has oversight of regulatory affairs and quality at Zoetis after nearly nine years with the company.

She also spent time in government including working for the ACVM Group and the Sustainable Farming Fund after leaving veterinary practice.

David MacGibbon

David MacGibbon

David’s life has been grounded in agriculture, having been raised on a sheep and beef farm in southern Hawkes Bay and working in rural retailing with Williams & Kettle before specialising in crop protection, firstly with ICI Crop Care through to his current role as NZ CEO for ADAMA.

David served on the Nelson Marlborough board of the Institute of Directors for seven years, is an associate fellow of the Institute of Manager and Leaders and currently sits on a number of other boards.

David holds a Certificate in Company Direction and is a Chartered Director (CMInstD).

Andrew Thompson

Andrew is General Manager of Lonza NZ, a crop protection and timber treatment business based in New Plymouth.

He manages a number of teams for the business - including research & development, commercial, operations and administration.

Andrew has been with Lonza, formerly Zelam, since 2002 and progressed to General Manager after other commercial roles.

Chris is the Regulatory Affairs Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health NZ. He has held regulatory positions with Bomac Animal Health and the animal health and crop science divisions of Bayer. He also spent two years with GlaxoSmithKline in London.

With experience in the veterinary medicine, crop protection and human pharmaceutical industries, Chris enjoys collaborating with industry and regulators to tackle challenges and encourage efficiencies in our industries.

Richard Olds

As a 25-year veteran in the retail and distribution environments, Richard has largely been involved with the supply chain function.

For the past nine years he has held the role of Head of Supply Chain for PGG Wrightson, covering the Retail and Water Group.

"I’m motivated to see the wider industry protected, enhanced and advanced," he says.

DarryI has managed the national crop protection category and fertiliser business for Farmlands for the past four years. Prior to this, he managed the Australian horticulture portfolio with Bayer Australia.

Passionate about food production and farming systems, he is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for the New Zealand crop protection industry.

“I believe that through careful navigation and better marketing of our core values and the unique innovations we bring to New Zealand agriculture, our industry can continue to prevail.

"This will not be without change to our current modus operandi,” he says.

Rebecca Fisher

Rebecca Fisher

Rebecca’s expertise lies in the area of agrichemical regulation. She works with crop protection members and grower groups on crop protection strategy development, registration of new actives and EPA reassessments.


Rebecca previously worked within the ACVM Group at the Ministry for Primary Industries and has an excellent knowledge of crop protection registration requirements. Rebecca is also the Executive Manager for Citrus NZ.
